Pixel Mosaic.

Pixelate the picture into cells, from fine to huge blocks.

Drag to compare. Left: the original clip. Right: the same clip through pixel.mosaic, rendered by the app.

What does it do?

Pixel Mosaic rebuilds the image from cells: size (or separate width / height), strength, grid offset, sampling, colour quantization and alpha. Factory presets include 8-bit, fine and huge blocks. This demo uses the default settings.

Creative ideas

  • An 8-bit look with colour quantization.
  • Censor-style huge blocks on part of a clip.
  • Animate the cell size into a reveal.

How to use it

  1. Open the Effects tab.
  2. In the left rail, under VIDEO FX, click pixel.mosaic.
  3. Set the cell size; try the 8-bit preset.

Level: easy. Undo anything with ⌘Z.

Example preset
