Reaction Diffusion.
Grow organic Gray-Scott patterns seeded by the video.
Drag to compare. Left: the original clip. Right: the same clip through reaction.diffusion, rendered by the app.
What does it do?
Reaction Diffusion runs a Gray-Scott simulation — the patterns of corals, cells and spots — seeded by your footage: feed, kill, diffusion, speed, growth and intensity. This demo uses the default settings.
Creative ideas
- Organic patterns spreading over a face.
- A biological texture for an ambient sequence.
- Small feed / kill changes give very different patterns.
How to use it
- Open the Effects tab.
- In the left rail, under VIDEO FX, click reaction.diffusion.
- Adjust feed and kill; raise speed to grow faster.
Level: medium. Undo anything with ⌘Z.
Example preset
- reaction.diffusion — default settings
The exact settings of the demo above. Save yours with presets › save in the inspector.
Render notes
The pattern grows over time. Rendered on demo footage: a high-contrast grain texture.
Rendered by @@ennuienoir (headless export) from a single shot of our demo footage, encoded for the web: H.264, no sound.
