Recursive Tile.

Split the frame into recursive rectangles that zoom, rotate and shift.

Drag to compare. Left: the original clip. Right: the same clip through recursive.tile, rendered by the app.

What does it do?

Recursive Tile cuts the picture into nested rectangular subdivisions; each tile can show the image zoomed, rotated or offset, with gaps and a reconstruction amount. This demo uses the default settings.

Creative ideas

  • A grid of moments for a graphic edit.
  • Random tiles on a beat.
  • Use gaps for a contact-sheet look.

How to use it

  1. Open the Effects tab.
  2. In the left rail, under VIDEO FX, click recursive.tile.
  3. Set subdivisions and split mode; add zoom and randomness.

Level: medium. Undo anything with ⌘Z.
